Wheels for Wellbeing

Wheels for Wellbeing is a mobile clinic which delivers much-needed healthcare to the rural communities of Timor-Leste (East Timor), where three-quarters of the country's population reside.

The Problem

  • 75% of peoples' healthcare issues could have been prevented through vaccines, education, or improved hygiene

  • Timor-Leste has the highest maternal and under-5 mortality rates in Southeast Asia

The Fix

  • Medical clinic that can be retrofitted to existing utility vehicles and fabricated at a low cost

  • Roves from village to village providing antenatal care, neonatal care, and midwife services. Futhermore, Wheels for Wellbeing prevents future health issues from arising through their education and immunisation programs.

  • Provides ongoing health training, education, and advocacy to two local 'representatives' in each village to achieve long-term sustainability and less reliance on the clinic.
